Want to include AI in your accounting course? Free AI in accounting teaching materials

If you’ve been thinking about incorporating generative AI into your accounting courses but aren’t sure where to start, I have a resource for you.

AI in Accounting Education: A Practical Guide for Educators and Students is a free PDF book you can use immediately in your classes. It includes 28 chapters that span financial, managerial, and general accounting topics. Each chapter is independent, so you can use the chapters as you see fit. Each chapter contains:

  • A short reading explaining the accounting concept and how AI connects to it
  • Two real-world examples of AI in action in accounting-related tasks
  • Hands-on student exercises using the free version of ChatGPT or the LLM of your choice. These exercises are designed to take about 15 minutes each.
  • Discussion questions designed to spark ethical thinking and curiosity

There’s also an Instructor Guide available (free by request at tiny.cc/book2025) that includes:

  • Course integration ideas
  • Assessment rubrics
  • 165 multiple-choice questions (at least five per chapter)
  • Suggested solutions
  • Additional teaching strategies and optional activities

These materials are designed for flexibility. You can use a single exercise as a quick in-class activity or assign a chapter as an online assignments. Every chapter stands alone, making it easy to drop into existing courses without having to revamp your entire syllabus. The materials work in courses such as:

  • Introductory Financial Accounting
  • Introductory Managerial Accounting
  • Intermediate Accounting
  • Cost Accounting
  • Advanced Management Accounting

To get the Instructor Guide, request it here: http://tiny.cc/book2025 (We send it out once a week—check your spam folder if you don’t see the email within a week of your request.) Visit AccountingIsAnalytics.com or AccountingInTheHeadlines.com for more teaching resources.

    This site can’t be reached
tiny.cc took too long to respond.

Thanks for any help you can provide.
